  • Expand Or Upgrade With Used Nextel Cell Phones

    Charles Weiss asked:

Many Nextel owners are not aware of the great value to be had from the huge used Nextel cell phones market. Since Nextel has expanded their range of models and gained in popularity, there are tons of high-quality used Nextel phones available for incredibly cheap prices.

If you’ve lost, damaged, or like me gotten your phone wet, and you are not in a position to sign up for a new long-term contract, you are a perfect candidate for a used Nextel cell phone. Unfortunately, the price of new Nextel phones is still quite high, even for a basic model. The super cheap and free phones only come attached to long-term contracts.

If you’re a business owner looking to add some Nextel phones, you’ll also do well in the used cell phone market.

  • Two Way Radio Vs Nextel, Sprint and Other Cell Phone Companies

    Jorge Torres asked:

Two-Way radios are making a huge comeback especially when it comes to On-Site Two Way Radio Communications. Surprisingly enough I have found that there are many companies using cell phones or Nextel to communicate within a building, campus, hospital, factory, plant and many other types of properties. Yes, the phones work but does it make sense to spend hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars a month on cell phone and Nextel bills? In many cases the answer is no.

Why pay so much money to talk to employees that are just a floor away, or a few blocks away? You can now have your own On-Site System. An On-Site System is usually made up of two-way hand held radios and sometimes includes a repeater that amplifies radio signals to penetrate through walls, buildings and underground garages, and it also dramatically increases your talk range.

This simple system is easy to use. One of the best and most exciting benefits from having your own On-Site Two Way Radio System is that you will not have any monthly air time bills to worry about. Surcharges, overages, and hidden taxes are a thing of the past to customers who switch to Two Way Radio On-Site Systems. Now instead of having a cell or Nextel bill every month, they have none.

They pay for the equipment and licensing (if required) and that’s it, they can talk for as long as they want. Whether it is an office building, hotel, school campus, or any other property, Two Way Radio On-Site Systems gets you talking to your people with instant communications at a push of a button. Another great benefit you can get dependable and durable two-way radios and accessories.

One product in particular is the new line of HYT two way radios that surpass most portable hand held standards. The TC-700 is light, rugged and durable that will last you years to come. Unlike cell phones, Hyt two-way radios can take a beating and come power packed with 4+ watts of power that gives the user clear communications where cell phones can not reach. The TC-700 also comes with a full one watt speaker. Most two-way radios only have half watt speakers.

The best thing to do is have a two-way radio company evaluate your current situation. They can come up with a simple solution or a universal solution that will meet your unique communications needs. Two Way radios and a repeater can save you thousands of dollars. No contracts or monthly bills to worry about. Two Way radios is not for everyone, but why not find out if they are?

  • Got Signal? Choosing the Best Cell Phone Carrier

    Sam Compton asked:

In recent years, cell phone usage has sky rocketed. Consumer reviews and tech columnists have devoted volumes to the subject of which phone to choose. The loyal followers of the iPhone, the Blackberry, the Palm, the Sidekick, ect, have engaged in fiery online debates over which one is better.

Relatively little has been written, however, on comparing cell phone carriers. To a considerable extent, a cell phone is only as good as the carrier that provides the signal. We’ll see here that evaluating carriers and their monthly plans is every bit as involved as reviewing the cell phones they run on.

J.D.Power and Associates have reported that the quality of *all* cell phone services has become so consistently high across the board that there was no longer a reason to even own a “land line” anymore. Paradoxically, ask any of your friends about cell phone reception horror stories and they’ll have plenty of fireside tales to tell you. J.D. Power and Associates also asserts that call carrier customers who did not have their complaints resolved by customer service were six times more likely to switch carriers. And in fact, this happens all the time. If one isn’t satisfied with one’s cell phone, it’s easy enough to get another one. But dropping a cell phone carrier is another matter. The advent of phone carrier contracts with cancellation penalty fees has largely come about to combat cell phone carrier dissatisfaction. Even the advent of 3G Networks, which was announced with great fanfare, still has not quelled a considerable percentage of cell phone customers that are not happy with their carriers. According to comScore Networks, one in four cell phone customers are not satisfied with their wireless carrier. With such an astonishingly large statistic, it’s clear that cell phone signal technology is still in its adolescence. Keeping this in mind, let’s now compare carriers.

According to comScore, Verizon Wireless has consistently been rated the best carrier in terms of coverage and customer service. Overall, only six percent of customers break their service contract.

AT&T/Cingular come in second, just behind Verizon. Alltel’s customer service contract breakers are more numerous, coming in at 9 percent, while Sprint/Nextel have an even higher dissatisfaction rating at 11 percent. At the bottom of the heap is T-Mobile, with 15% of customers wanting to break out of contract obligations.

But there might be more to this than meets the eye. The above comScore survey is not location specific and uses the percentage of customers breaking the service contract as the litmus test for popularity. A J.D. Power and Associates survey does indeed confirm Verizon as the leader, but mentions that this is particularly true in the Northeast, where Verizon’s coverage is the strongest. T-Mobile, with the lowest rating in the comScore survey, actually ranked first in the Southwest, according to J.D. Power. Moreover, Verizon also ranks lower in terms of the phones that run its service, which tend to use CDMA technology rather than GSM. As a result, Verizon phones tend to not accept SIM cards (Subscriber Identity Modules) which prevents their use when travelling overseas. Verizon’s rates also ranked considerably higher than its rivals, and though its customer service gets high marks, its bills tend to be confusing to read.

J.D. Powers also claims that Sprint has a strong popularity in the Southwest, yet at the same time it concedes that Sprint also ranks lowest in call quality. The latter statistic was also confirmed by a PC Magazine survey. By contrast, PC Magazine ranks T-Mobile as the best carrier in terms of pricing, and second only to Alltel in service plan options. T-Mobile also offers its service on a wide variety of phones and smartphones with GSM/SIM card compatibility enabling international use.

Prepaid cell phones deserve their own category all together. Virgin Mobile won the highest marks, just ahead of TracFone and T-Mobile respectively. Verizon, ATT&T, follow in order of decreasing popularity, with poor Sprint/ Nextel once again at the bottom of the heap.

Oftentimes people let their choice of service providers be determined by what phone they choose. Let me suggest that you might just as easily consider the reverse route; find the best carrier for your needs and chose your phone from there.

  • What’s With Nextel i605

    Jane Shake asked:

Learning about this subject will help you more in the long run than you may realize, until the time comes when you really need it.

The Nextel i605, the troupe’s first traditional handset with Bluetooth (Nextel has a pair Bluetooth-equipped Blackberry diplomacy as well), is a tough, gigantic chunk of a handset, prime for demanding-and-topple work or adventure. Considering the charge of this archetype, while, most those will maybe find other Nextel offerings more appealing.

Massive and violent at 5.9 ounces, the i605′s front is dominated by a big, 2.2-edge 176-by-220 tint divider, with a tough false disguise. The divider is great for displaying the GPS maps formed in the included Elena and Trimble outside GPS applications and for recital e-post (we got 12 defenses of 28 characters in e-post). When we compared it with the 130-by-130 divider found on the Nextel i355and i265, we were able to observe twofold the number of north-south roads on an Elena map of Manhattan. Having a divider of that dimension makes observing maps a bit sounder, whether you’re heavy with Elena (instead than relying only on the application’s audio prompts) or climbing with Trimble outside.

The rubberized casing found on the i605 is hardy enough to rally the services MIL-STD-810F glasses, maven it’s opposing to roast, cold, dust, throb, and oodles of knocking around. We dropped it some epoch with no plain outcome.

As we take a closer look, keep in mind all of the useful and important information that we have learned so far.

A big handset means a big string, in this reason providing the i605 with 9 hours 52 notes of discuss time. And as this is a Nextel handset, the spokesman is thunderously loud; we could visibly consider calls on the spokesman handset while status out on a full Manhattan road. Sound class was okay, while we had some audio dropouts that we attributed to Nextel’s structure.

The i605 balancing certainly with Nokia and Logitech Bluetooth headsets, and we were thrilled to see that you can actually initiate declare dialing from them as well. This very practical appear is not to be full for decided on any handset; there are totally a few handsets scattered across carriers that still don’t let you initiate declare dialing over Bluetooth.

Another clever appear of this handset is that it has a COM haven, so you can link your i605 to a processor as a Bluetooth GPS corps. You can also use the handset as a Bluetooth modem for your PC, while Nextel’s structure provides a measly filter of thdemandingput, at 14 to 16 Kbps of download race. You can propel photos to the handset for Caller ID or wallpapers via Bluetooth as well. That said, you can’t propel new Java applications or ringbones to the handset via Bluetooth; Nextel requests you to buy this material from theme pity sincerely, because the handset uses MP3 ringbones.

Like other new Nextel archetypes, the i605 also comes with Nextel’s new Group join appear and a choice to buy Nextel cell Epos, a Java-based POP3 e-post client that’s worlds distant and past Nextel’s old WAP-based e-post structure. Group join lets you originate call groups on the fly. Both appears aren’t elite to the i605; they run on the i265, i275, i355 and i836 as well.

Whether you’ll like Nextel cell Epos depends on whether you’re comparing it to Nextel’s old WAP-based structure or to something like a Blackberry. It’s a lot oilskin and earlier than WAP, and it syncs with Microsoft Outlook and Lotus comments via a desktop redirector application. It even gives you access to Outlook and Lotus calendars and contacts, while it doesn’t merge them with the handsets own calendar record.

But cell Epos cataract far abruptly of a Blackberry-class liquid. It sups havens only one e-post account at a time. There’s no attachment sup haven. POP3 mail look to come in on an irritating 15-tiny falter, and awhile Outlook mail redirect against the handset rapidly, Blackberry Web Client is higher, in that it doesn’t compel a desktop factor to hit Outlook postboxes, as the i605 does.

The handset comes with 11MB of liberated recall for declare recordings, 10MB for Java application figures, and about 2.7MB for the applications themselves. That should be enough for some choicely apps or GPS map sets.

The i605 is posh for what you get. Nextel has other more reasonably priced liquids that don’t have all of the i605′s appears, but may be better for many more people. Businesspeople will maybe find the sleeker i830 and i836 more appealing. The Blackberry 7520 from Nextel has Bluetooth and a better divider for GPS applications and e-post. For outdoorsy types, the i355 is more hardy and machinery off-structure as a walkie-discussie. And all of these choices are excluding posh than the i605.

This article is the perfect way to gain the information that you need to fully appreciate the complexity of this subject.

  • The Top Phones You’Ll Want To Buy In 2009

    Matt Sharp asked:

2009 has already seen the launches of some amazing phones . Let’s look at 3 that show off their respective interfaces at their absolute best: the Toshiba TG01, the Nokia N97 and the astonishing Palm Pre…

    Toshiba TG01 – Power Windows

There’s no doubt that Windows Mobile is powerful, but the new Toshiba TG01 shows just how powerful it is. The huge 4.1 inch screen and the ludicrously fast 1GHz processor give Windows a whole new lease of life, removing any of the ‘clunkiness’ Windows phones of long ago may have had. In the case of the Toshiba TG01, Windows Mobile is allied to a brand new, 3D interface, with a series of 3 revolving strips that contain all your apps and shortcuts. The animations and actions of the interface are smooth and beautiful, and the Toshiba TG01 proves that as far as operating systems go, Windows Mobile is still one of the hottest properties in the world.

    Nokia N97 – a true handheld computer

With the Nokia 5800 all set to deliver touchscreen mobile phones to the mid-range market, that leaves a very big gap at the absolute top-end of the product range; well, there IS a touch-based mobile phone on its way to fill that gap: the frankly awesome Nokia N97. This uses the same Symbian S60 Touch interface and crams it within the shell of a proper, full-tilt smartphone. Which means it’s got a massive, 3.5 inch screen, a slide out QWERTY keyboard, and the camera’s been upgraded to 5 megapixels.

The Nokia N97 is, obviously, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it’s genuinely as powerful as the rumours said, with HSDPA, sat-nav, digital compass, and integrated Flash, meaning you get an internet experience that tops any other mobile phones! Put it like this: the Nokia N97 is unbelievable. It easily outdoes other mobile phones and while the Nokia 5800 (or, to give it its development name, the Nokia Tube) angles to take over the mid-range, I’m predicting that the Nokia N97 will totally DESTROY the competition next year!

Palm Pre – the most innovative phone ever…

There’s one soon-to-be-upcoming phone, though, that can top even the heady power of the Toshiba TG01. That may be the pinnacle of Windows Mobile’s evolution so far, and the Nokia N97 may have a brand new version of Symbian to run on, but the Palm Pre is new in every sense of the word. With Windows Mobile growing in user-friendliness and raw power, it’s down to a brand new operating system to really wow us. Say hello to WebOS, as found in the stunning Palm Pre. This takes phone interfaces to a whole new level, easily surpassing the supposed king of mobile phone interfaces, the iPhone. The Palm Pre does this by simple expedient of being at least as user friendly as the iPhone, but with vastly more power and potential. Everything becomes interconnected and synergised, so that the contacts menu on the Palm Pre links into your maps, which links into the browser, which links into email and so on. Everything is interconnected and intuitive, and on top of that, the Palm Pre has one extra thing that the iPhone can’t manage: true multitasking. The Pre is simply one of the most important phones ever to have been announced!

  • Nextel Cellular Phone Fakes And Scams Are Rife – Don’t Get Fooled By The Cell Phone Cons

    Neil Day asked:

The Nextel network is the first wireless network to provide built in fraud and cloning protection. This dedication to consumers is one of the reasons why you’ll see the Nextel cellular phone used by law enforcement, firefighters and EMS all over the nation. Another reason is the Nextel Direct Connect that allows you to use your cell phone like a walkie talkie. This feature is used quite a bit by businesses especially since you can make groups of up to 100 people that can be connected at once through Direct Connect.

Another special feature of Nextel is that they make a variety of special edition Nextel cellular phones. They are so popular that fakes and scams are appearing on the internet. If you’re in the market for a special edition Nextel cellular phone, make sure you research your phone first. Know what the phone looks like and what special features they offer such as ringtones, wallpaper and games. The fakes do not have these special applications and features. Some of the most popular and therefore duplicated phones are the Baby Phat i95, Baby Phat i833, Phat Farm i730, Swiss Army Edition i90, Roxy i90, Roxy i830, Roxy i833, NASCAR i730 and NASCAR i736.

These special edition Nextel cellular phones show up on eBay quite often. For a legitimate Nextel cellular phone you will have to be patient and wait to find one in your price range, as these phones can go for up to $400. In your haste to get a cool special edition phone, do not be fooled by fakes and housing phones. Housings are cases for cellular phones that you can buy. You can find housing in different colors, styles and with images of popular stars and characters. Nextel does not honor the phone’s warranty though if you change the housing or buy a new phone with housing in place.

Housing is a fun way to customize your Nextel cellular phone, but don’t get tricked into buying a housing phone when you thought it was a legitimate special edition phone. Many scammers buy a new Nextel cellular phone, change the housing and then sell it on eBay for exorbitant prices as a limited edition phone. Limited edition does not mean special edition, even though it may look exactly like the special edition phone you want. Most housing manufacturers print limited edition on every housing they make. Legitimate sellers on eBay will never misrepresent a phone. If they are selling a housing phone, the ad will clearly state that. Some sellers also claim the phone is NIB or New in box, when they really just changed the housing and put it in a special edition box. Some sellers even use housing that is made up, not even copied from a special edition phone, and try to sell it as a special edition.

Protect yourself when trying to get a good deal on a special edition Nextel cellular phone. Research, ask questions and have patience!
